SUNSET DRIVE IN
CALIFORNIA
At their heyday in 1958 there were
112 Drive-In Theaters in Tennessee . Nationwide there were
over 3000. In 1999 Tennessee had only 14 operating,
and the number nationwide had dwindled to less than 800.Some of the drive-ins in my hometown (Knoxville, Tn.) were:
Sunset Drive In
Family Drive In
Skyway Drive In
Chapman Highway Drive In
Knoxville Drive In
River Breeze Drive In
Capri Drive In
Twin Aire Drive In
Here are a few of the movies
we saw if we were at the drive in with our
favorite girl and saw any of the movie:
Whether it was after the movie, a ballgame, or if you were just out 'cruisin', no evening was complete without a trip to your local drive in restaurant. Do you remember?

I only wish there were restaurants
now a days that you could get food as good
as the drive-in's used to serve. I can remember:
Dip Dogs------.10
Hot Dogs------15
Hot Dog Special------.25 (with french fries)
Hamburger's------.25
Hamburger Special------.35 (with french fries)
Cheeseburgers ------ .35
Cheeseburger Special ------ .45 (with french fries)
Cokes -----.10 --.15 --.25
Milkshakes------.20
Malts------.25
Sundaes------.25 and .35
Banana splits------.45
